In just five years, the number of non Chinese people learning Mandarin Chinese has soared to 30 million.

Secondary schools in England will be allowed to teach Mandarin as part of proposals to update the curriculum.

Just some of the feedback we've had!

'Hsin has worked with us at Knightsbridge School for 4 years as a mandarin teacher. Throughout her time, she has always worked hard and showed great enthusiasm and commitment. She is a great team player, always has a go and leads by example. She has a good rapport with the parents, children and staff. Her lessons were well delivered and incorporated modern technology. I would recommend her to any employer for any children of any age as she is a fabulous people-person and would re-employ her in the future.'

'Hsin is an amazing teacher, she has helped me make immense progress in my Chinese. She has a good sense of humour, which always keeps the lessons fun and enjoyable, so I always look forward to our lessons. Not only does Hsin teach you the language, but also helps your understanding of the culture, and is always willing to explain things which may seem quite confusing at first. I think that being able to speak Mandarin is a great skill and asset to have, and Hsin is a great teacher who will have you making excellent progress in no time at all.'

'Ms. Hsin is a very experienced teacher. Not only does she help you learn Chinese, but she also helps you understand it. Stey by step she assists you in learning all the characters, pin yin, tones, pronunciations and even some of the culture and history of China. She teaches using songs, books, games, stories, activities and more. I have improved a lot on my Chinese with her help.'

'Hsin is my Chinese teacher. She is very patient and never loses her temper. If I do not understand something she will persist in explaining slowly until I get it. She loves to have fun and a simple mistake could get us both laughing. Hsin is efficient, caring, friendly and clever. I would recommend her to anybody wanting to learn the noble language of Chinese.'

Jasmine, aged 13, studying GCSE, London

'The lessons with Lets Talk Mandarin were a good introduction to Mandarin and were particularly helpful in terms of the tones and pronunciation which are hard to pick up from books or CDs. My work meant that it was difficult for me to commit to a regular class with set times during the week, but the one-to-one lessons were flexible and I was able to fit them around my work. The lessons were tailored to the areas that I was interested in covering and used varied teaching methods such as power point and pictures to help make the language easier to learn. The teacher was always punctual and prepared for the lessons, and happy to adapt them to cover the areas I was interested in learning. I thought that the lessons were very good and would definitely recommend them to others wanting to learn Mandarin.'
